Gobble, Gobble

One of my favorite activities of Fall is a family project. Anytime I can involve the parents in a fun, creative project with their children, it makes me happy. Their returned artwork tells me a lot about their family. I enjoy the little glimpse I get of their lives at home.

So, each year, after reading Turkey Trouble, I send home a template of a turkey. I ask the parents to help their child disguise the turkey in order to save it from becoming Thanksgiving dinner. We share our disguised turkeys and write about them. It's always good for a lot of laughs! Here are a few pictures of our turkeys from last Fall.
Here are some of my favorites from last year:

The Raggedy Ann turkey is one I did with my daughter, who was also my student. :-)

I can't wait to see what the kids come up with this year!
